Towards Establishing Best Practices in Documenting Textile Imprints on Clay – a hands-on workshop in Warsaw organised by the ExplorTIC Project – aims to advance documentation procedures and research protocols for textile imprints on clay.
During the workshop, we will work towards formulating best practices for the study of imprints, taking into account their specific characteristics (fragility, high three-dimensionality, alterations caused by pressure, challenges in identifying raw materials and production techniques, etc.), as well as issues related to digital documentation (3D scanning, photogrammetry, RTI). A hands-on session will offer an overview of techniques for making modern casts and impressions directly from archaeological textile imprints on clay, and will support the formulation of a decision-making strategy for taking positive imprints.
